Elizabeth Harvest Review: A Thought-Provoking Sci-Fi Thriller

The third act of Elizabeth Harvest is where the real magic happens, as each version of Elizabeth - 2, 3, and 4 - finds their unique personality, backed by psychological themes that question what it means to be alive. While some may say the excitement wears off after the initial impact, I was pleasantly surprised by the depth director Sebastian Gutierrez brings to his characters.

The concept of creating clones is a fascinating one, but containing them proves to be a monster waiting to get out. The debate between the two scientists about playing God adds a layer of complexity to the story, and Carla Gugino shines as Claire, delivering a standout performance. Abbey Lee, a rising star with a unique look and aura, brings Elizabeth to life in a captivating way.

One of the key successes of Elizabeth Harvest is its well-cast ensemble. The characters are stored in cryogenic lockers, and when Henry learns that Elizabeth is aware, he decides to start over again, killing her and awakening the next clone. As Elizabeth stumbles upon a room containing multiple clones of herself, we're introduced to two mildly mad scientists who are obsessed with their work.

The film's cerebral approach sets it apart from other sci-fi thrillers like Alien: Covenant, Ex Machina, Cube, House on Haunted Hill, and 10 Cloverfield Lane. Elizabeth Harvest delves deeper into the minds of Henry and Claire through their scientific journals, offering a more thought-provoking experience. Fans of secluded areas and houses with secrets will appreciate the claustrophobic atmosphere and numerous surprises.

At its core, Elizabeth Harvest is a sci-fi thriller that combines elements of Ex Machina and Frankenstein. When characters are told about rooms they can't enter, we're usually in for a treat - and this film delivers.
